Rooted in Hudson Valley, Hudson Health Anesthesia is a testament to the enduring legacy of physician-owned practices. Established in 2021 by a trio of seasoned anesthesiologists, our practice reflects over 50 years of combined experience and a shared commitment to maintaining the highest standard of anesthesia care. We have taken the stance to focus on patient care over profit, ensuring that each decision we make is in the best interest of the individuals we serve.
Meet Our Doctors
Dr. John Mascia
Dr. Mascia is a founding member of Hudson Health Anesthesia and our Locum company, Hudson Health Medicine. He has been practicing Anesthesia for over 25 years and is the current Chief of Anesthesia at NYP-Hudson Valley Hospital. Dr. Mascia graduated from the Albert Einstein School of Medicine and interned at Yale- Norwalk Hospital, which was followed by an Anesthesia residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Post training, he worked for North American Partners in Anesthesia for over 20 years. During that time, he advanced to the position of Perioperative Services Director at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was later appointed to be the Chief of Anesthesia at Columbia Memorial Hospital, in Hudson NY, and then promoted to Chief of Anesthesia at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY. He has been at NYP since 2020.
Dr. Bijal Patel
Dr. Patel is a board Certified cardiac anesthesiologist. Dr. Patel received his anesthesia training and his cardiac anesthesia training both from Yale University. He has served as Vice Chairman of anesthesiology at Vassar Brother Medical Center as well as acting cardiac anesthesiologist for the last 10 years. He is proficient in both Spanish and Gujarati. Dr. Patel resides in the Hudson Valley with his wife and two daughters. He is currently a founding partner of both Hudson Health Anesthesia and Hudson Health Medicine. He is currently the Vice Chairman of the anesthesia department at New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt New York.
Dr. Kunjan Patel
Dr. Kunjan Patel is a board-certified anesthesiologist with more than 20 years of clinical experience in the Hudson Valley. He earned his medical degree from Upstate Medical University and completed his anesthesia training at Montefiore Medical Center.
For 16 years, he served at Garnet Medical Center, including in the role of Vice Chairman, where he provided strategic leadership in clinical operations, staffing, and departmental growth. His tenure was defined by a strong focus on improving efficiency, enhancing patient care delivery, and building high-performing anesthesia teams.
He currently practices at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital and Columbia Memorial Hospital, where he continues to bring both clinical expertise and operational insight to the advancement of anesthesia services.
In addition to his clinical work, he has a strong entrepreneurial focus within healthcare. His areas of interest include operating room utilization and efficiency, anesthesia practice management, revenue optimization, and the development and scaling of ambulatory anesthesia models. He is especially passionate about building sustainable, high-quality anesthesia practices that balance excellent patient outcomes with strong operational performance.
